A Danotherm CMQ resistor is a power resistor with high pulse load ratings. UL-certified resistor components provide high reliability.
A CMQ resistor has a modular design: A maximum of four housings can be joined together to create larger units with higher nominal power ratings and higher pulse load capabilities. A single housing can be specified with a power rating between 555 W and 4150 W. CMQ resistors can handle up to 1000 VAC or 1400 VDC in terms of operating voltage.
The aluminium extruded housing has been optimized to the application. Thermal expansion feet allow the resistor to heat up without any mechanical stress. Integrated slots allow fixture of PT100 sensors. Optionally an integrated thermal switch is offered for overtemperature signaling. A thermal switch is available as an option.
Aluminum is chosen as the material for the housings because it is non-corrosive, non-magnetic, lightweight yet durable, and is an excellent conductor of heat. The resistors are fully insulated and have no external live parts.
Determined by the resistor length and resistance value, CMQ resistors can handle 40 to 100 times the nominal power rating. This overload value is valid for one 5-second pulse that occurs once every 30 minutes.
