Danotherm HVS resistors are medium voltage power resistors with high pulse load capability. They belong to the ALPHA product line that features ceramic-supported wirewound spirals in sealed aluminum housings. The maximum working voltages are 3000 VAC / 4200 VDC, and the resistors can sustain overloads of 40 to 130 times the nominal power ratings. The rated dielectric strength for HVS resistors is 10 kVAC for 1 minute.
HVS resistors are suited in applications such as wind/gas turbines and supercapacitors where the pulse load is infrequent.
Power ratings for single housings range from 1600 to 4600 W. Multiple housings – up to four - can be connected for increased power rating /pulse load capability.
Danotherm HVS resistors are convection-cooled devices. Aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat, and the housing design facilitates the heat dissipation. Aluminum is chosen as the material for the housings because it is non-corrosive, non-magnetic, lightweight yet durable, and is an excellent conductor of heat. The resistors are fully insulated and have no external live parts.
HVS resistors support cable connections and are available in IP50/IP54/IP65 rated versions.
Customized and OEM versions are available upon request.
